Round Midnight - upcycled console receiver

I'm close to completing my winter project --

Tomorrow I will work with Susie on joining the front trim. Tonight I have sprayed the light blue enclosure with a matte finish -- I'm not 100% sure how it will all turn out -- but I've been working on it since January -

I found the console on craigslist for free - the console was very beat up -- I removed the receiver and record changer from it. I picked it up as a spare for my Early American console I brought home in December.

The system sounds quite good - I'm pleased with it as a small bookshelf receiver.

The process is not pretty but the faceplate was what inspired me -- I'm a sucker for a dark face.

Designing a simple enclosure was a fun process - but more difficult than I expected. I originally was going for a black shiny spray painted lacquer finish - I almost achieved it but I was too much of a perfectionist - dust, cat hair - mars of different types plagued me -- so I decided to try a painted finish instead -- I still had problems -- but it will be a unique one of a kind piece --

If I do another one of these I will put more thought into the enclosure - probably make the entire thing out a veneer.
