drum cabinet magnavox -- new project for 2021

 I have a problem -

I need an intervention --

I keep bringing home cool old magnavox hifis....

This winter I've brought home 5 of them!

First it was the late 70s dark pine colonial from Northfield - free -

then a free spares unit with a cool black face -- the cabinet was so hideous that I busted it up and threw it away - the record changer was also damaged -- but I'm using it as a cadaver --

I'm upcycling the blackface receiver from this spares unit into a stand alone small receiver --

Then, because I wanted another record changer to tinker with, I bought a nice early 60s console for $50 - I'm not crazy about the console design - but it will be a nice unit -- it will need a full resto -- I've started on the record changer --

Then another free early/mid 70s magnavox came home - again, I busted up the cabinet because it was ugly - but I have a nice record changer and a cool silver face receiver from it -- future projects --

And then this past Saturday morning I saw this on craigslist -- I struck immediately and drove up and picked it up - $50

I would put it as a late 60s early 70s model -- I've downloaded the schematic -- it's dated 2-69

I've wanted one ever since seeing this great ad:

It is in the 1971 catalog --

So today I was able to remove the record changer - it's going to need a full lube job -- hopefully the motor is good --

I'll also take the radio chassis out for a recap and clean the controls --

Here's the schematic

Magnavox chassis R22283

In future posts I'll introduce you to my other Magnavoxes --
